Guy Overfelt operating from San Francisco, California, USA
SELECTED BIBLIOGRAPHY : REVIEWS / PRESS / INTERVIEWS / CATALOGSConceptual artist Guy Overfelt drives his ideas smack into the hard body of the actual. A couple of years ago, his 1977 Trans Am sped down a SoMa street trailing thick yellow clouds of bleach; a cop cited him. The speed racing and subsequent arrest were phase one of an "ongoing investigation into the debauchery of the American landscape." Phase two begins on July 4th with a beer party and a gallery display of courtroom sketches, a life-sized, inflatable Trans Am, and other by-products of the original event. Overfelt's work is stingy with ideas, the artifacts are pricy (for example, $1500 for a drawing of skid marks), but the beer is free. -Apollinaire Scherr |
